Exist
Just as you are.
I do many things, from digital branding to content creation and consulting. I needed this space for me, a place where I can exist and remind myself who I am when I get caught up in the rat race.
My Journey
Styling & Personal Shopping
When I was a sophomore in college, one day I was pacing up and down my room and said to myself “I want to help women shop better” because I was always getting compliments on my affordable but well put-together outfits. It quickly became obvious that many women did not know how to do this or thought the only way they could look good was to break the bank. I mean, if you want to go Set it Off style, I’ll drive! haha.
So I started a blog in my senior year, first with articles, built an audience and slowly integrated style posts. After solidifying my presence, I took the leap to accept clients as a personal shopper. My clients requested styling tips and wanted more ways to get enough wear out of their new clothes. That led me to become a personal stylist in addition to being a personal shopper. I was still writing my weekly blog consistently. From undergrad to grad school and eventually my professional career, this experience taught me how to juggle multiple responsibilities effortlessly.
I had the pleasure of working with so many amazing clients, both men and women, specifically helping the everyday woman to enhance her personal style. Because I love weddings (always have), I integrated bridal styling to guide brides on how to achieve their dream wedding looks. Seeing a consistent boost in my clients’ confidence was the icing on the cake and it kept me going. My favorite part of being a stylist was when my clients got to a point where they no longer needed my services because they could trust their voice and had finally learned to shop in a way that truly reflected their personalities instead of being guided by fickle fashion trends—that was my goal.
After an enriching 8-years, I decided it was time to move on to something that I had been doing all along but intentionally put on the back-burner. I still reflect on this journey fondly and cherish it because it was a time of growth and personal fulfillment. Without any formal training, I learned how to be a stylist, offer my services and run a successful business.
Gift Boxes
Because of my attention to detail and carefully wrapped boxes for my clients, I soon received loads of requests to curate gift boxes for my clients’ loved ones.
I had become known for blessing my clients with new styles in luxurious packaging, singlehandedly wrapped with care. I helped couples woo their significant other, friends surprise their besties on their birthdays, solidified many relationships, and over time, it felt like a seamless next step to add this offering to my brand. In 2022, I launched Velvetine Gift Boxes to cater specifically to gift shopping. I believe gifting is a lost art that needs to be done with more thoughtfulness or not at all.
This needed more resources than I anticipated and is currently on hold.
Dare to Dream
I stepped into my zone of genius in 2021 to offer brand consulting and strategy along with website design. While I was a stylist, I frequently offered these services pro bono to several entrepreneurs and creators who were just starting out. The creator economy had not yet boomed and being an entrepreneur was not half as cool as it is now; we all needed guidance.
I became the go-to for any business owners seeking strategy, advice and what tools they needed optimize processes and grow their business. My evenings were often spent jumping on phone calls to implement and execute for small business owners. My transition from styling to brand strategy and web design was smooth. I had clients lined up before announcing my launch.
Since then, I have worked on multiple rebranding projects businesses, often bringing an idea to life from scratch and watching the founder excited as we go through the process.
Because of everything I have done, I am confident that my skills apply to many industries and now looking to extend my expertise to content creators and influencers. Naturally, I have been creating since I published my first blog post over a decade ago coupled with tons of content to keep my audience engaged. I have a solid grasp on the creator space and I’m excited to see what the future holds.
The beauty? It started in my college dorm room.
