My blogger BFF, MyStyleOasis and I decided to do a little collaboration for Spring. We felt that wearing florals in the Spring time was nothing new so we opted for lace and pastels for our post. I think I cheated because this shoot was not specifically for the collaboration; I wore this outfit to my friend's birthday dinner and upon seeing one of these pictures on Instagram, Ms. Style Oasis asked if that was my outfit for our collaboration. Of course it was! :D
Speaking of my friend's birthday dinner, I've known her for quite some time and it was amazing to be her party organizer. She has been nothing but good to me and I thank her for letting God use her to help me in the ways that she has.
The Birthday Girl
She pretty much entrusted me with her dinner and I'm happy I found a beautiful sensual restaurant with tasty affordable food. It's all we needed! The restaurant is called Peli Peli, a fusion of South African food and American style dining. I'm emphasizing the origin of the food because after the dinner, I realized that we had just dined at a South African inspired restaurant but we couldn't actually go to South Africa if we wanted to, because we are Nigerians. It's crazy and pitiful what Xenophobia can do to a people.
I hope the unrest in South Africa comes to a permanent halt because I recall wanting to travel there some years ago and because of this same incidence, I could not. If anything, Nigerians greatly enhance the GDP of other countries (at the detriment of our own economy). We love traveling, we love spending and we love taking in new experiences. It's a shame that fellow Africans would see us in a different light. Please, "Let there be"...Peace!
About the Outfit: I love how easy and free-flowing this dress is, although I had to put in a few stitches right before heading out to dinner. I got lots of compliments and one waitress told me she'd been looking for the person with "the nicest dress she'd seen that night" (her colleague had described my dress to her). I was elated, because this dress had been sitting in my closet since last August. Thinking I bought the wrong size, I listed it on Poshmark in December only to find out it was indeed my size after a potential buyer asked for the measurements. I had misread the tag so an apology definitely went in. Funny enough, I had bought myself another lace hem dress last Fall.
