Have a seat and grab a drink. Let's play catch up.
In my last post, I told you I had done something new and needed a moment to be able to share it with you. Well,...
Talk Tuesday has changed format from plain text to videos. Still in its infancy, I have collated a couple of videos to share with you here from the last two episodes of Talk Tuesday which saw this change. "How did the format change?" you would ask. Well, I had been toying with the idea for a while, thanks to a friend and frequent reader's suggestion. But I wasn't sure I was ready to air my voice. I thought typing those questions on a plain white background was enough so I put that suggestion on the back burner. Then one day, I watched a video about Oprah Winfrey and Shonda Rhimes, the writer of Scandal and HTGAWM talking on the subject of marriage, specifically why Shonda doesn't want to get married. I took to Snapchat to jokingly express my opinions and later found myself uploading those videos to Instagram as a Talk Tuesday topic to get my audience's opinion as mine was a little jaded. I flat out said marriage after 30 for me would not really be about the "love clause" but a desire of both parties to want to start a family.
The following week which was last week, I recorded a video as well so I guess we're on this. It took a push and a shove from my friend. It was such a struggle to setup and actually get myself to realize this was happening but God for deloying His own. Danke, sis!
#TalkTuesday with Memkoh: Your take on marriage after 30. (I won't post the videos here. You can catch them on my Instagram - @memkoh)
Last Week's #TalkTuesday: Shooting this was interesting. Don't get too surprised when you see my shoes off. It was a merge between a video I was more comfortable and one where I dressed to par for the camera. I preferred the delivery in the video without my shoes. Click each video to view the conversation. A single video will be up on my Vimeo later.
Recap: Owing to advancements in technology, I can confidently say that the entry requirements / barriers for most trades are low. How can seasoned professionals be motivated to improve their craft with the changing times, while welcoming the newer minds?
Of course I am not saying technology is all bad. I have a blog, instead of having to publish a book every time I want to share my opinion. I have a DSLR camera or better still, my iPhone, instead of having to hire a pro photographer every time. Still, there are some older people out there who in their frustration of not being able to fully navigate our tech world, have waned in their trade because of these youngsters and their Instagram. Got it?
Uploading fragments of videos like these is not only tedious, but incredibly distracting, I know. If you can suggest how best to create a centralized post where all the comments go, let me know. I am thinking of posting one snippet on Instagram and the full video on my blog, but commenting on blogs and having to verify that you are human takes time and is nearly not as easy as leaving an Instagram comment. I am still brainstorming on how to make this as easy and enjoyable as possible for my audience. Please share any suggestions.
